I'm excited.

I went out and did some night shooting again last night. Having gotten my "cliche" shots (the kind of night shots that I've seen on postcards and whatnot), I did some exploring. I love some of what I got.

In one of my first posts, I referred to having difficulty knowing ahead of time what was going to make a good shot and what wouldn't. I referred to Garry Winogrand who said "I photograph something to see what it looks like photographed."

I think I've learned a lot since then. I feel much more comfortable with the camera, and feel much more as if I at least have a remote idea of how things will look once I've photographed it...

But not with night photography. Every shot is a new experience. The night world through the lens (and a long exposure) is fascinating. The colors, textures and contrasts are breathtaking.

I'm glad I started doing this.

Stunning. Great effect with the light and the fact the day is still closing in the background helps considerable in the shot.

I agree with rw. Stunning picture. And you have passed your enthusiasm on to me. My photo group is going to a county fair next Friday to do nightime "cliche" shots of rides and booths an such. Not sure what I will be able to shoot with my little toy camera but I will try something. Thanks for sharing your feelings about night shooting.

Night photography is great, I'm sure you'll enjoy it !
In this shot, I'm not fan of the green tone on the left half of the picture, it gives a sort of unreal and cold feeling to it...
Nevertheless, I love the background.
